World News: Amid the nearly two-year-long conflict between Israel and Hamas, US President Donald Trump has presented a peace plan for Gaza. However, Hamas says it has not yet received any information about the plan.
A senior Hamas official told AFP on Monday, "We have not received Trump's proposal. We will study it and respond when we receive it." The official spoke on condition of anonymity.
Gaza residents are also expressing skepticism about Trump's peace plan. They say it is merely a sham, as Trump has previously failed to end the war. Ibrahim Joudeh, 39, said from al-Mawasi, a humanitarian zone in southern Gaza, "This plan is unrealistic. It contains conditions that Hamas will never accept. For us, it means the war and suffering will continue."
Abu Mazen Nassar also expressed disappointment with the peace plan. He says the plan may be aimed at luring Palestinian groups into releasing hostages, but it won't bring about genuine peace. He said, "What's the point of handing over all prisoners without any official guarantee of an end to the war? We won't accept this farce."
Abu Mazen further stated that Hamas's time to make a decision is long past. He believes Hamas has lost the trust of the local population and has drowned them in the flood they created. Both the common people and senior officials of Gaza are expressing serious doubts about this peace proposal. They say that only an agreement based on the release of the hostages will not bring a permanent solution, and the lives of the local people will remain unstable.
