Iran Accused of Surprise Missile Strike on US Base, CENTCOM Says All Threats Were Intercepted (Image Courtesy: Instagram)
Washington: The atmosphere in West Asia has once again deteriorated. America claims that late on Tuesday night, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard IRGC fired ballistic missiles targeting American troops deployed in the Middle East. According to the American Central Command CENTCOM, this was a sudden attack. But American air defence intercepted all the missiles in the air in time. This incident has happened at a time when talks are going on between America and Iran regarding the nuclear deal. Donald Trump has already threatened Iran with military action.
US Central Command posted on Twitter saying that IRGC fired several ballistic missiles towards American military bases. But the American defence system was fully alert. All the missiles were intercepted en route. CENTCOM says that no soldier died in this attack and no base was damaged. All American forces deployed in the area have been put on high alert.

According to American media reports, the target of the missiles was the American military base built in Jordan. Last week, Trump halted possible military action against Iran. After that this is being said to be the first major attack. There has been no official confirmation of loss of life or property yet. But after the incident, security has been tightened in the entire area.

Both Kuwait and Qatar came forward after the attack. Kuwait's Foreign Ministry condemned it as a threat to the peace of the region. Qatar supported Jordan's sovereignty and said that violation of any country's borders will not be tolerated.
Both countries stressed that tension should be reduced and a solution should be found through dialogue.
The most shocking thing is that the missile attack happened just a few hours after the meeting between Trump and Israel's PM Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. Both of them had a long talk on Iran's nuclear programme and the security of West Asia. This news came as soon as the meeting was over. This has increased the fear of a new war in the area.
Before the attack, Trump had clearly said that if a nuclear deal is not made with Iran, America will attack again. If necessary, Iran's important targets and infrastructure will be targeted. Now after this latest attack, the situation has become more critical. The eyes of the whole world are now on whether America and Iran resolve the matter through talks or whether West Asia once again gets engulfed in the fire of war.
