Iran's President Pezeshkian Lists Conditions to End War, Says 'US, Israel must pay reparations' (X)

Tehran: Amid the ongoing Middle East tensions, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday said that the only way to end the war is "recognising Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int'l guarantees against future aggression."

What did Masoud Pezeshkian say about ceasefire?

Masoud Pezeshkian in a social media post shared Iran's conditions for ending the war, that includes compensation for the US-Israeli assault and “firm” international guarantees that Iran would not be attacked again.

Iranian President also said he gave that message to the "leaders of Russia and Pakistan."

Pezeshkian also stressed that ceasefire  must include compensation for the damage caused during the conflict.

Taking to X, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote, "Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region. The only way to end this war-ignited by the Zionist regime & US-is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int'l guarantees against future aggression."

Why is the Strait of Hormuz at the centre of the crisis?

The Middle East tension has also centred on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. The conflict has severely disrupted shipping in the area, with tanker movement falling sharply and several vessels staying away due to safety concerns.

Roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply normally passes through this narrow sea lane, and the disruption has already pushed global oil prices higher and raised fears of an energy crisis.

Has Trump warned Iran against interfering with oil shipments?

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran against interfering with oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said that the United States would respond strongly if Iran attempts to block the route.
