Although a ceasefire has been confirmed between Iran and Israel, the war of words between the two nations continues. On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned a statement made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Trump had made a controversial remark about Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, claiming that he (Trump) had saved Khamenei from a disgraceful and horrible death.
Responding to Trump’s statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, “If President Trump truly wants to make a deal, he must stop making disrespectful comments about Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. He is offending Khamenei's millions of supporters by doing this.
“The people of Iran are great and powerful. They have shown the world that when Israel had no option to escape our missiles, it immediately ran to ‘Daddy’ (the United States) for help.”
It’s worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump had shared a post on the social media platform Truth Social, writing, “I knew where he (Ayatollah Khamenei) was hiding. I stopped the Israeli and American forces from attacking him. I saved him from a disgraceful and painful death. He doesn’t need to thank me for it.”
In recent days, tensions between Israel and Iran had escalated significantly. On the night of June 13, Israel launched an attack on Iran, which was followed by a strong counterattack from Iran. On June 22, the United States also joined the conflict and carried out heavy bombings on Iran’s nuclear sites. After 12 days of conflict, Iran and Israel agreed to a ceasefire on 24 June.
