London Tragedy: 26-Year-Old Indian Man Stabbed to Death; Police Launch Investigation

Washington: A 26-year-old Indian-origin man was stabbed to death in Southall, west London, the Metropolitan Police said on Saturday. The police have started an investigation and are asking anyone with information to come forward as a witness.

What was the location of the incident?

The victim, who has been described as Gurbhej Singh, was stabbed near Dormers Wells Lane on North Road in Southall, close to a high-density community of Indians, the police said.

The other man (30-35) has been discharged from the hospital after being stabbed, the police said.

Singh was rushed to the scene by the police and died despite the efforts of medical staff, the Metropolitan Police said.

Were anyone arrested by police?

A total of seven men, between 20 and 30 years old, were arrested at the scene, police said, for murder charges.

The police said that after complied investigation six persons have been released without any charges and one person has been released on bail.

Police said the men they arrested from the scene, suspected of murdering the girl, ranged in age from 20 to 40.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said: "Homicide detectives are still investigating Singh's death and my sympathy goes to his family and loved ones.

She said that she believed he was beaten outside a shop around 00:30 and requested that anyone who has CCTV footage of the incident or was in the vicinity at the time to come forward for the investigation.

This is shocking for Gurbhej Singh's family. A GoFundMe (an online fundraiser site) has been launched to send Gurbhej's body back to India as well as to cover costs of paperwork, transportation and funeral. The objective is €16,000 and as yet €11,000 have been raised, using only 737 donors.
