Tehran: Following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran has gone into retaliation mode. Iran claims to have attacked a US warship with four ballistic missiles on Sunday. On Saturday, Israel and the US launched a joint military operation in Iran, launching airstrikes on several targets. This resulted in significant success for both countries, with Khamenei and several prominent Iranian leaders killed. Iran's military also suffered significant losses. Immediately following these attacks, Iran launched airstrikes against US military bases in the Gulf countries, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait.

What has Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed?

After attacking the US warship, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards declared, "We have targeted the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln with four ballistic missiles." The Guards also warned that land and sea will increasingly become a graveyard for terrorist attackers. Meanwhile, Iran renewed its attacks in the Gulf on Sunday after vowing to avenge the slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Meanwhile, the UAE Defense Ministry stated that an Iranian drone attack on an Abu Dhabi naval base caused a fire, but no casualties were reported. The ministry stated, "Special teams responded to the incident today after two Iranian drones struck a warehouse at Al Salam Naval Base in Abu Dhabi. The attack set two containers of civilian goods on fire, but no casualties were reported."

What did Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian say?

Furthermore, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that a new council has begun its work following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US and Israeli attacks. Pezeshkian made the remarks in a pre-recorded message broadcast on Iranian state television on Sunday. Pezeshkian is one of three officials on the council. The other two are judiciary chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi and Ayatollah Ali Reza Arafi. Iran's foreign minister, meanwhile, said a new supreme leader would be elected in "a day or two." Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Al Jazeera on Sunday. Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed a day earlier in a joint US and Israeli airstrike.
