Washington: A major update has emerged regarding efforts to end the conflict that has been ongoing in the Middle East for the past three months. US President Donald Trump has announced that an agreement between Iran and several other listed nations has been largely negotiated, with only the finalization remaining. He stated that the process of reopening the Strait of Hormuz is nearly complete.

What did Donald Trump announce on social media?

Taking to social media, Trump revealed that he held extensive telephone discussions regarding this agreement with the heads of state of several key countries in the region. According to Trump, he spoke with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain.

What did Donald Trump tell Benjamin Netanyahu?

In a separate phone call, Trump also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump remarked, "My conversation with Netanyahu was excellent. The final aspects and nuances of the deal are currently being discussed and will soon be presented to the world."

Trump issued this statement at a time when, just a few days ago, the US had been considering launching fresh strikes against Iran. Trump made no mention of Iran's nuclear program or its highly enriched uranium. There was no immediate comment on this matter from either Iran or Israel. Meanwhile, Iran stated on Saturday that it is working toward a 'Memorandum of Understanding' aimed at ending the conflict with the United States.
