Middle East Tension: Donald Trump Gives Defiant Iran 10 Days To Accept US Terms

New Delhi: Amid ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington, US President Donald Trump has given Iran 10 days to reach a deal, and has warned of dire consequences. Amid Trump's warning, Mohammad Islami, head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, stated that no country can deny the Islamic Republic of Iran its right to nuclear enrichment. Tehran's statement comes at a time when the US is conducting its largest military deployment in the Middle East in two decades.

According to a video released by the Etemad daily on Thursday, Islami said that enrichment is the foundation of the nuclear industry. Everything in the nuclear process requires nuclear fuel. He stressed that Iran's nuclear program is operating in accordance with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regulations, and no country can deny Iran its right to peacefully benefit from this technology.

What did Donald Trump say?

On Thursday, he urged Iran to reach a "meaningful agreement" with Washington. He also warned that failing to do so could lead to "bad things" for the Middle Eastern country. Trump stated that reaching a meaningful agreement with Iran has not been easy for years. "We must reach a meaningful agreement, or else we will face serious consequences."

Trump clarified that talks with the US must take place within the next 10 days, or else Washington may have to take a step further. He said, without elaborating, "You will find out in the next 10 days." He emphasized that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons. "There cannot be peace in the Middle East if it possesses nuclear weapons. This has been made very clear to them."

Will US attack Iran?

Earlier on Wednesday, Trump again hinted in a post on his social media site, "Truth Social," that the United States could attack Iran. He warned Britain against giving up sovereignty over the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean and said that if Iran did not agree to a deal, the archipelago's Diego Garcia air base might be needed to prevent a potential attack by a highly unstable and dangerous regime.
