New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held telephone conversations with King Hammad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. The conversation came amid ongoing conflict in the region affecting several countries. According to officials, PM Modi strongly condemned the recent attacks on Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, describing them as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these countries and expressing his deep concern.

PM Modi discussed in detail the safety and well-being of members of the Indian community living in both countries, as thousands of Indians are employed there, and the Indian government is particularly concerned about their safety amid the current tensions. The conversation came after the US and Israel carried out major attacks on Iran in West Asia, which killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran responded by launching several missiles and drones, targeting US military bases in several countries in the region, including Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Tensions in the Gulf Region Rise
Iran's retaliatory actions impacted the US Navy's 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, while attacks were also reported on some air bases and eastern regions of Saudi Arabia. These incidents have escalated tensions throughout the Gulf region, posing a serious threat to oil supplies, trade, and civilian security. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi's initiative is crucial to maintaining regional stability and strengthening diplomatic efforts.

Also Spoke to Netanyahu
PM Modi previously spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where he appealed for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a negotiated solution. The Indian government has made it clear that it supports peace and security in the region and condemns any form of violence. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs and relevant agencies are actively working to ensure the safe evacuation and assistance of Indian citizens stranded in the affected areas. The current situation in West Asia has become a matter of global concern.
