A mild earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was recorded in Nepal’s Dailekh district on Tuesday. The National Seismological Center confirmed the incident, stating that no casualties or property damage had been reported.

According to the National Seismological Center, the earthquake's epicenter was located in the Tolijaisi area of Dailekh district. Tremors were also felt in neighboring districts, including Achham, Kalikot, and Surkhet, causing brief panic among residents.

Local timing and public response

The earthquake struck at approximately 5:20 PM local time, momentarily alarming locals. However, authorities have assured that no significant impact has been observed.

Nepal’s earthquake vulnerability

Geographically, Nepal is highly susceptible to earthquakes. The country has witnessed several major tremors over the years, including the devastating 2015 earthquake, which claimed nearly 9,000 lives and destroyed thousands of homes. Experts warn that these frequent mild tremors could be indicators of larger seismic events in the future. Given this risk, local authorities continue to emphasize the need for earthquake preparedness and public awareness to mitigate potential disasters.
