Curfew imposed in many districts of Nepal, orders to shoot rioters at sight

International News: Social media ban in Nepal has sparked anger among the youth. Thousands of Gen-Z students and youth took to the streets. A crowd gathered to surround the Parliament in Kathmandu. The protesters broke the barricades and entered the Parliament premises. Police fired tear gas shells to stop the crowd. Water cannons were used but the situation kept worsening. The crowd went out of control and violence spread. When the situation went out of control, the police started firing. The Parliament area was shaken by the shower of bullets.

18 protesters died in this firing. More than 100 people are reported to be injured. There was chaos on the road and people started running here and there. The injured youth were taken to the hospital. An emergency situation arose in the city's hospitals. The pressure on the police to open fire has increased.

Kathmandu curfew, army alert

After the violence, curfew was imposed in Kathmandu. The army was deployed to protect the Parliament and government offices. The army was also stationed near the houses of the President, Prime Minister and Vice President. If the situation worsens, rubber bullets can also be fired. Up to 15 thousand people are said to be present near the Parliament building. The atmosphere is tense and there is silence on the streets. The army is trying to control the situation at all costs.

Emergency meeting was called

Nepal's Prime Minister KP Oli called an emergency meeting on the situation. A cabinet meeting will be held at 6 pm. A big decision can be taken on social media ban in this. Opposition leaders have also started increasing pressure on the government. After the violence, the demands of the public have increased. The government has offered to talk to the youth. Sports Minister Santosh Pandey said that the youth's point will be considered. Now everyone's eyes are fixed on the government's decision.

Unemployment and corruption became issues

The youth expressed their anger not only on social media but also on unemployment and corruption. They said that the government has ended education and employment. Protests also broke out in many cities like Pokhara, Viratnagar and Bharatpur. The youth held the government completely responsible. They said that shutting down the internet and education is playing with their future. Angry youth raised slogans and protested fiercely on the streets. During this, many vehicles were also burnt.

Traders' losses increased

The social media ban stopped the business of businessmen. The business of those who sold goods on Facebook and Instagram came to a halt. Studies stopped due to the shutdown of YouTube and GitHub. It became difficult to talk to family abroad. Many people started breaking the ban using VPN. The youth said that the government took the decision without thinking. People are now facing financial losses. The situation worsened so much that people were forced to take to the streets.

Movement started on TikTok

This movement started from TikTok. The youth showed their anger by making videos. The luxury of the children of leaders and the unemployment of common people were compared. Hashtags like #RestoreOurInternet went viral. Students in uniform also joined the protest. People above 28 years of age were not allowed to join the movement. This made the movement more special. Now this movement has become a topic of discussion all over Nepal.
