A shooting incident happened at Midtown office building in New York City (Social media)
International News: In two separate and shocking incidents in the United States, at least five people lost their lives and several others were injured in shootings that took place on Monday. One incident happened in Manhattan, New York City, and the other occurred outside a casino in Reno, Nevada. These events have once again raised serious concerns about public safety and the need for stricter gun control laws.
On Monday morning, gunfire broke out inside an office building in Midtown Manhattan during working hours. Two people were killed, and the suspected shooter also died after being shot, according to police.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams informed the public through social media, urging anyone in the area to stay indoors and remain alert. Emergency teams, including police and medical personnel, quickly arrived at the scene and secured the area.
Although the exact reason behind the shooting is still being investigated, early reports suggest it may have been related to a workplace dispute. The building was fully evacuated, and nearby streets were closed off for safety.
Earlier that same day, another shooting took place outside the Grand Sierra Resort Casino in Reno, Nevada. Three people died, and three others were seriously injured in the attack.
The shooting occurred around 7:25 AM in the casino’s valet parking area. According to Reno police, the gunman was quickly confronted by officers and injured during the encounter. He is now in custody and receiving medical treatment while under police watch.
Witnesses described scenes of panic as people ran for safety. Emergency services responded immediately, and the wounded were rushed to hospitals. Some of them are reportedly in critical condition.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspect or the victims. However, police have ruled out any links to terrorism and believe the attack was targeted. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to help with the investigation.
These two shootings, happening within hours of each other, have once again brought attention to the growing gun violence problem in the U.S. Despite ongoing discussions and public pressure, such tragic incidents continue to occur across the country.
Community leaders and officials are once again urging for stronger gun laws and better mental health services. Mayor Eric Adams stressed the need for immediate action, saying, “We cannot become numb to these tragedies. It’s time for real change.”
As investigations continue in both Manhattan and Reno, families of the victims are left grieving while many Americans are once again asking how such violence can be stopped.
