Islamabad: A powerful explosion has rocked the Imam Bargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra in the Taralai area of ​​Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The blast caused panic in the area. Upon receiving news of the incident, police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched relief and rescue operations.

How have the authorities reacted?

According to officials, a state of emergency has been declared throughout the city in light of the situation. Security agencies have cordoned off the Imam Bargah and the surrounding area, and strict surveillance is being maintained to prevent any further incidents. There has been no official confirmation of any casualties so far.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined. Investigating agencies are collecting evidence from the site and are trying to ascertain how and under what circumstances the blast occurred. Further details are awaited.

A state of emergency has been declared at the Polyclinic, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and CDA Hospital in Islamabad. The executive director of PIMS stated that the main emergency department, orthopedic, burn center, and neurology departments have been activated. The injured are being admitted to PIMS and the Polyclinic hospital.

A major explosion also occurred in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, about three months ago, on November 11, 2025.  At that time, a powerful suicide bombing took place outside the District and Sessions Court building in the G-11 area of ​​Islamabad. That blast killed 12 people and injured more than 30 others.

How many casualties?

At least 15 people have been reported to be killed while more than 80 people have been injured. According to officials, the injured were taken to hospitals with some of them in critical condition.

 What had the Pakistan Defence Minister said?

Last month, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had blamed Afghanistan for causing unrest in the country through the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), popularly known as the Pakistani Taliban, and had declared that his country is going through a 'state of war'.

"Anyone who thinks the Pakistan army is fighting this only in the Afghan-Pakistan border region or Balochistan should take the suicide attack at Islamabad district courts as a wake-up call. This is a war for all of Pakistan," Asif had posted on social media platform X.
