Jordan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Jordan on Monday on a two-day visit. In Amman he was warmly welcomed by King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein. First there was a face-to-face conversation between the two leaders at Hussainiya Palace, then discussions were held at the delegation level. The atmosphere was definitely formal, but the conversation was quite natural and open.
The main objective of this meeting was to look at the current status of India-Jordan relations and decide the future direction. Both the leaders also shared their views on the regional situation and global issues. PM Modi said that he is confident that this conversation will bring the two countries closer.

PM Modi reminded that diplomatic relations between India and Jordan are completing 75 years this year. He said that the trust built over such a long time is special in itself, and this trust will become the foundation of new partnerships in the future. He praised the thinking of King Abdullah, due to which India-Jordan relations remain strong.
During the talks, special emphasis was laid on topics like trade, fertilizers, digital technology, infrastructure, and people-to-people contacts. PM Modi said that both the countries are already working together in these areas, and it will be taken further in the coming times.
The Prime Minister said in clear words that India and Jordan have the same thinking against terrorism. He praised King Abdullah's role on Gaza-related issues and expressed hope that peace and stability would return to the region. He said that Jordan has given a clear message to the world against extremism.

PM Modi recalled the visit of 2018, when King Abdullah came to India and participated in a program related to Islamic heritage. He also said that the first meeting between the two was in 2015, where issues like violent extremism were discussed. According to PM Modi, King Abdullah has always been talking about peace.
King Abdullah II said that PM Modi's visit is special for Jordan. He said that there is a strong friendship between the two countries and people respect each other. Shah said that this visit can give a new direction to economic cooperation.
On Tuesday, PM Modi and King Abdullah will participate in the India-Jordan trade program, where businessmen from both countries will be present. PM Modi may also visit the city of Petra with the Crown Prince, which is known for old trade relations, although this will depend on the weather.
India is a major trading partner of Jordan, and there is trade worth billions of dollars between the two countries. Jordan supplies fertilizers to India, while thousands of Indians are working there in different sectors. This visit of PM Modi is an attempt to take this trust and partnership forward.
