World News: There is growing speculation about political instability in Pakistan. Amid rumors of a possible change in leadership, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has denied any possibility of using nuclear weapons during the recent conflict with India. He emphasized that Pakistan's nuclear program is meant only for peaceful purposes and national defense.

Speaking to students in Islamabad on Saturday, Sharif said 55 Pakistani civilians lost their lives during Indian military operations in the four-day May conflict. However, he asserted that Pakistan responded with full strength to the attacks.

“Our nuclear program is completely peaceful and is meant for the defense of the country, not for aggression,” said Prime Minister Sharif when asked about the possibility of using nuclear weapons during the conflict.

Background: Operation Sindoor and the India-Pakistan Conflict

The military conflict between India and Pakistan began after the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which killed 26 civilians. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

As part of this operation, the Indian Army attacked nine terrorist camps, including in Bahawalpur, which is considered a major base of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist group. India said the strikes were carried out to avenge the Pahalgam attack.

Leadership Change Rumors Denied

At the same time, reports suggesting a potential leadership shift in Pakistan have been gaining momentum. Some reports claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari may resign and that Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir could become the next president.

However, Prime Minister Sharif dismissed these claims as baseless. In an interview with The News on Friday, he said, “Field Marshal Asim Munir has never expressed any desire to become president, and there is no such plan. My relationship with both President Zardari and Army Chief Munir is built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the country's progress."
