International News: The Shangri-La Dialogue 2025, held in Singapore, proved to be a very important moment for the global security community amid rising military tensions between India and Pakistan. India sent a strong warning to Pakistan with 'Operation Sindoor,' while Pakistan warned of severe repercussions if conflict erupts.

India's clear message: 'New Laxman Rekha' drawn against terrorism

India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, firmly stated during the session that India will no longer tolerate terrorism in any form. He described the recent Operation Sindoor as a decisive action and said, "This operation is a tough lesson for our adversaries. India's tolerance now has a limit that cannot be crossed."

General Chauhan, referring to the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, directly blamed Pakistan-based terror organizations and termed it a blatant attack on India's security sovereignty.

Pakistan's response: 'Borders may become irrelevant.'

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, responded sharply to India’s statement. He said, "If the next conflict breaks out and cities are targeted, borders will become irrelevant and the devastation will be widespread before international intervention."

Mirza also said that Pakistan never wanted conflict, but its strategic preparations are complete for any situation.

Two neighbors on the same platform: But there is bitterness in views

Interestingly, military officials from both countries participated simultaneously in different sessions at the Shangri-La Dialogue. The sharp opposition in the thinking of both countries on issues like terrorism, defense innovation, and regional crisis management was clearly visible. While India is advocating military action to stop terrorist attacks, Pakistan is trying to show the international community that it wants peace.

India increased strategic connectivity, CDS held bilateral meetings

On the sidelines of the dialogue, General Anil Chauhan met top military officials of Germany and Singapore to discuss bilateral defense cooperation. Defense partnership, operational capabilities, and technical cooperation were prioritized in talks with Germany's Chief of Defense General Karsten Brauer and Singapore's Chief of Defense Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng.

A new geopolitical picture to come

The Shangri-La Dialogue may have been a multilateral platform, but the acrimonious exchange between India and Pakistan made it clear that peace in the subcontinent is still far away. India's Operation Sindoor, Pakistan's warning, and the presence of both on the global stage - all this could create a new geopolitical picture in the days to come.
