International News: Nature wreaked such havoc in Pakistan's Punjab province that the entire area was plunged into mourning. There was no war, no terrorist attack, but still 20 people lost their lives and more than 150 were injured. The reason was a severe storm and torrential rain, which not only disrupted normal life, but also halted road and air traffic. The strong storm and rain that came on Saturday evening blew away the roofs of houses in many areas, demolished the walls of old houses and even uprooted hoardings and solar panels on the roads. Many people were buried under the debris. The most damage was done in Punjab, where heavy rain and winds caused havoc.

The flight was also affected by the weather

According to the Punjab government, many children are also among the dead. The major reasons for the accident are said to be dilapidated houses, old billboards and falling electricity poles. Reports of deaths and damage have come from many districts including Lahore, Jhelum, Sialkot, and Muzaffargarh. The storm not only stopped ground traffic, but also created chaos in the sky. A flight FL-842 from Karachi to Lahore got badly stuck in bad weather. Passengers were seen reading verses from the Quran and crying out of fear. The flight was finally returned to Karachi.

Situation will remain like this for two days

Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also hit by strong winds and hail, but no casualties have been reported there. Power was cut off at many places and crops were also damaged. Waterlogging in many areas led to long traffic jams on the roads. The Meteorological Department has warned of more rain and strong winds in the coming days. The Motorway Police has closed many routes as a precautionary measure. According to the Punjab Disaster Management Department (PDMA), the situation is being monitored and relief work is being carried out at a fast pace.
