Islamabad: The Taliban regime of Afghanistan has now made a big claim of attacking many major military bases of Pakistan. These also include the Noor Khan Air Base of Rawalpindi, which is considered a very important base of the Pakistani Air Force. The Taliban say that these attacks were a response to Pakistan's bombing of Afghan areas.
Taliban's Defense Ministry has claimed that on Sunday their Air Force carried out precision attacks on many important military sites of Pakistan. These include Noor Khan Air Base (Rawalpindi), 12th Division Headquarters in Quetta, Balochistan, Khawajai Military Camp in Mohmand Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and some other command centers. Taliban says that Pakistani military has suffered a lot due to these attacks.
According to the Taliban, on Saturday and Sunday night, Pakistani forces carried out air strikes on Kabul, Bagram Air Base and many other areas of Afghanistan. Common people were also killed in these attacks. The Taliban responded directly, saying that the attacks from their side were a befitting reply to Pakistan's "provocation" and "repeated aggression".
Taliban deputy spokesman Saidukullah Nasrat said that 32 soldiers of the Pakistani Army were killed in these retaliatory attacks. Besides, two Pakistani drones were also shot down. Defense sources told Tolo News that the air strike was carried out on 12th Corps in Quetta at 11 am on Sunday (Afghan time), which was a direct reaction to Pakistan's bombing the previous night.
According to Taliban figures, 52 civilians were killed and 66 injured in Afghanistan in Pakistani attacks from February 22 to the end of the month. These include drone attacks in Ghani Khail district of Nangarhar province, where civilian houses were targeted. Taliban is saying that these attacks were without any reason and now they will not remain silent.
Noor Khan Air Base is a super strategic base of Pakistan, located in Rawalpindi and close to Islamabad. Last year in May 2025, India had targeted this base during Operation Sindoor, when tension between India and Pakistan was at its peak. Now hearing Taliban's claim of attacking this base, it seems that the tension on the border has now reached an "open war" like situation.
There has been no official confirmation or denial from Pakistan on these Taliban claims yet, but the round of allegations and counter-allegations is going on from both the sides. How serious the situation is on the border will become clear in the coming days.
