Kabul : The Taliban, which has taken power in Afghanistan, has made it clear that it has no intention of interfering in the mutual affairs of Pakistan and India. Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that the strained relations between India and Pakistan are an internal matter between the two countries.
Mujahid said that Kabul has no involvement in the India-Pakistan issue. "We prioritize our relations with both countries based on mutual interests. We will advance our relations with India and Pakistan in accordance with our own interests," he said.
Mujahid stated that Afghanistan's relations with India are based on mutual respect and are not influenced by any other country. He added that Afghanistan has never been, and will never be, a plaything in anyone's hands. Afghanistan's relations with India, Pakistan, or any other country are determined by its own interests. This should not be interpreted in any other way.
Mujahid's statement comes at a time when Pakistan has leveled numerous accusations against Afghanistan. Pakistan has stated that groups carrying out violence on its soil are finding refuge in Afghanistan with India's support. Pakistan has specifically questioned the improving relations between Kabul and New Delhi. In response, the Taliban has clarified that it has nothing to do with India-Pakistan tensions or internal affairs.
The Taliban spokesperson has also said that Pakistan's Shahbaz Sharif government and the army led by Asim Munir are not on the same page on relations with Afghanistan. Zabihullah Mujahid said in his statement that Pakistan's civilian government is interested in establishing relations with Kabul on the basis of mutual interests, but the army is against it.
Zabihullah Mujahid says that the Pakistani army is deliberately engaged in spoiling relations with Afghanistan. He said that last month, Pakistan's special envoy Sadiq Khan was trying to improve relations in Kabul. Meanwhile, the Pakistani army spoiled things by carrying out airstrikes in Afghanistan.
