A statement issued by the Hickman County Sheriff's Office stated that the explosion occurred at Accurate Energetic Systems. According to the company's website, the site of the explosions is located in the hills near the town of Bucksnort, about 97 kilometers southwest of Nashville. This eight-building plant manufactures and tests explosives.

Sheriff Chris Davis said, "Many of our people are missing at this time. We are trying to take care of their families and the situation." The cause of the explosion was not immediately known. Video from the scene shows flames and thick smoke rising from the debris. The explosion at the plant was so powerful that residents living miles away heard the blast.

The explosion delayed rescue operations

Local officials said that due to the continuous explosions, emergency crews were initially unable to enter the plant. They had no information on whether there were any casualties. Local residents living a few kilometers away reported feeling their homes shake, and some captured loud explosions on their cameras. One resident said, "I was sleeping, and suddenly I felt the house collapse, and I was inside it."
