Tehran: Tensions between two countries in the Middle East are at their peak: the world's most powerful nation, the United States, and Iran. US warships are ready to attack Iran, awaiting only President Donald Trump's nod. Trump has repeatedly warned Iran that it will be destroyed if it does not comply with his demands. On the other hand, there have been signs of diplomatic talks between Iran and the US.

What stance has Iran taken?

Amidst the long-standing tensions between Iran and the US, diplomatic efforts are once again gaining momentum. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the country is ready for diplomacy, but diplomacy has its own principles, and the humiliation of the Iranian people will not be tolerated. Araghchi also expressed hope that positive results from diplomatic efforts would be seen soon.

This statement comes at a time when Iran and the US are considering a new approach to talks regarding the nuclear dispute and related sanctions. A Foreign Ministry official in Tehran said that various aspects of resuming talks are being examined. Iran wants the US sanctions lifted soon, as time is of the essence for them.

What has Donald Trump said?

US President Donald Trump has also acknowledged that serious talks are underway between the US and Iran. Meanwhile, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has given positive indications regarding the talks on social media.

However, disagreements between the two sides persist regarding the conditions. The US has set conditions such as zero uranium enrichment, a ban on the ballistic missile program, and an end to support for regional allies, which Iran considers a violation of its sovereignty. Recent statements suggest that Iran is ready to show flexibility in the negotiations, such as the option of sending highly enriched uranium abroad.

According to reports, a meeting between US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Abbas Araghchi is possible in Turkey, where discussions will focus on diplomacy. Currently, an official announcement from both countries regarding the timing and format of the talks is awaited. This development has raised hopes for peace and dialogue amidst the tense situation.
