Washington: In America, the government of President Donald Trump has taken strict action against three Middle Eastern branches associated with the Muslim Brotherhood. Declaring these organizations as terrorists, a ban has been imposed on them and the people associated with them. This decision may also affect the relations between America and its regional partner countries.
The US Treasury and State Department have announced action against Muslim Brotherhood branches operating in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. American officials say that these organizations have become a threat to America and its interests and have been associated with many violent activities.
The State Department has listed the Lebanese branch as a “foreign terrorist organization.” This is considered to be the strictest status. After this, providing any kind of help to this organization will be considered a criminal offense in America.
At the same time, the Jordanian and Egyptian branches have been declared by the Treasury Department as “Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organizations.” It is alleged that both of them have provided support and resources to organizations like Hamas.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement saying that this step is the first major action towards stopping the violence and instability spread by networks linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. He clearly said that America will adopt every legal means to deprive such organizations of funds, resources, and any kind of support.
Last year, Trump signed an executive order giving Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Besant the responsibility to decide the most effective way to impose sanctions on these groups. Now this action has been taken under the same process.
Undersecretary of State for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John Hurley said that the Muslim Brotherhood has not only inspired terrorist organizations like Hamas, but also provided them with funding and ideological support. According to him, such groups are a direct threat to the security of America and its allied countries.
After this decision, it is believed that a new movement can be seen in the diplomatic relations of Middle East politics and America.
