International News: In Turkish's largest city Istanbul, water prices are going to increase by 10% from June. This decision has been taken by the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Authority (ISKI) keeping this decision in view of increasing inflation and operation cost. About 85% of the domestic consumers will be affected by this change and they will have to buy expensive water according to their water consumption.

Water expensive for domestic consumers, slab rates increase

Those using water up to 15 cubic meters in Istanbul will now have to pay 46.62 Lira instead of 42.37 Lira per cubic meter. For those who spend 16 to 30 cubic meters of water, the rates will increase to 71.04 Lira per cubic meter from 64.58 Lira. Monthly rates will be automatic

The Council of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has taken another important decision, under which now the water and sewerage rates will now be automatically updated based on the average of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the domestic producer Price Index (D-PPI) of the official statistics institute Turkstat every month. The new rates will be implemented within three working days of the release of the data for every month.
