Tehran: The ongoing military conflict between America and Iran in the Middle East is becoming more serious. The US Army carried out massive air strikes on several important military and strategic targets of Iran for the ninth consecutive night. After these attacks, the sounds of explosions echoed in many cities of Iran, while the security alert in the Gulf region was further tightened. US officials say the actions are aimed at ensuring the safety of international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and weakening Iran's military capability.
During the American action, reports of massive explosions were reported in many areas from the north-western city of Tabriz to the south-eastern port of Chabahar. Apart from this, military activities also remained intense in sensitive coastal areas like Hormozgan and Bushehr. According to Iranian media, air defence systems were activated at many places in an attempt to stop possible attacks.
Tension also reached its peak in the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important maritime trade route, amid air strikes. A massive fire aboard a merchant ship off the coast of Oman has raised new concerns about global shipping and oil supplies. How the ship was attacked has not been officially confirmed, but due to the ever-increasing military activities there has been a decline in the number of ships passing through this sea route.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important oil supply routes. Due to continuously increasing military tension, there has been a surge in crude oil prices and uncertainty has increased in the energy market. Experts believe that if this conflict prolongs, it could have a major impact on the global supply chain and oil market.
Nine consecutive days of US strikes and Iran's retaliatory preparations have increased tensions across the Middle East. Many countries have strengthened their security arrangements and the international community is keeping a close eye on the situation. Experts believe that if both sides do not step back, this conflict could take the form of a wide-ranging regional war.
