US Support
International News: Israel's security cabinet has given the green signal to the plan to occupy the Gaza Strip today, i.e., Friday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has issued a statement confirming this. Interestingly, the Israeli army and its chief themselves had objected to this plan, while a large number of ordinary Israeli citizens are also not in favor of it.
According to Axios, even US President Donald Trump himself has not opposed this decision. He has made it clear that he will not interfere in this issue and will leave the decision entirely to the Israeli government. This stance of Trump is surprising because until some time ago, Trump was trying to get a ceasefire between Netanyahu and Hamas and had recently appealed to Netanyahu to end the war after seeing the crisis of starvation in Gaza.
The Israeli Security Cabinet has approved the controversial plan. It plans to occupy a large part of Central Gaza, including Gaza City, and displace about 1 million Palestinian citizens. During this, the army will also go to those areas where hostages are suspected to be present, which could endanger their lives.
According to a news article published in Axios, an American official said that recently Hamas released a video, which is being considered the reason for Trump's changed stance. Actually, in this video, an Israeli hostage was shown digging a pit for his own grave. According to the official, this shocked the President, and he decided that Israel should do whatever it deems necessary.
Netanyahu and his allies say that Hamas is not ready to agree to a comprehensive ceasefire and hostage agreement that Israel can accept. They believe that only military pressure can force Hamas to bow down. At the same time, Israeli Army Chief of Staff General Eyal Zamir had warned that this step could put the lives of hostages at risk and could trap Israel in a direct military rule in Gaza, where it will have to bear the full responsibility of 20 lakh Palestinians.
