Surveillance footage obtained by the New York Post reveals the disturbing scene. Two women are seen walking down the street when Destin, who is using a walker, suddenly lunges at them with a large knife. He stabs one of the women in the chest before calmly returning to his seat.

Victim recovering, suspect undergoes evaluation

The 46-year-old victim, a tourist, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and treated for a serious chest wound. Thankfully, she is reported to be in stable condition. Destin was also taken to Bellevue for a psychological evaluation after being apprehended by police.

Police sources revealed that Destin has a concerning criminal history. He has been arrested 14 times in the past two decades, primarily for minor offenses like criminal mischief and trespassing. However, four arrests have occurred since 2019, suggesting a possible escalation in behavior.

Jamal Mubare, owner of a nearby deli, identified Destin as a regular customer residing in a local homeless shelter. He believes Destin's attack might be linked to a lapse in medication. "He doesn't look dangerous," Mubare stated. "I think he just didn't take his medication or something."
