Washington: US President Donald Trump has given Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky an ultimatum to sign a framework agreement on the 28-point peace proposal at least by Thanksgiving (November). The White House called it a 'goal,' but final negotiations may take time. Addressing the nation, Zelensky expressed his dilemma that we are going through the most difficult phase... we either lose respect or our biggest ally (America). He said that Russia attacked for 11 years, but life without freedom, dignity, and justice is unacceptable.

Donbass to Russia, army halved, NATO freeze?

Sources say that the plan is divided into four categories, which include peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security of Europe, and future US-Russia-Ukraine relations. This includes recognizing the Russian-occupied Donbass region, halving the size of Ukraine's army, and stopping further expansion of NATO. In return the US would provide security guarantees, and Ukraine would be rebuilt using frozen Russian assets ($100 billion). Russian Envoy Kirill Dmitriev said that this time our position is being heard and the deal can be successful. But there is silence on Russia's occupation.

What is the role of Vitkoff-Dmitriev's Miami meeting?

Putin-Trump talks at the Alaska summit remained inconclusive. Now Steve Witkoff (US Special Envoy) and Dmitriev discussed in Miami for 3 days (24-26 October). Witkoff spoke with Ukrainian NSA Rustam Umerov. Briefing to European officials begins. Zelensky said that creative and honest action will be taken and Trump's wish for peace will be respected. But the stance is clear that trusting Russia is impossible, because it has been attacked twice.

Losing respect or American support? What is Europe worried about?

Zelensky addressed the nation, saying the winter would be harsh if no deal was reached, but not life without dignity. Had an hour-long conversation with Vice President JD Vance and Army Secretary Driscoll. Europe is alert. France said no peace surrender. EU Chief Kay Kalas Why not equal terms on Russia? The plan will 'freeze' Ukraine, and Russia will get relief. The Russian advance (Pokrovsk), corruption (resignation of 2 ministers), and Trump's pressure are increasing in Ukraine.

NATO's concern, relief for Russia?

European leaders are scared. NATO members feel that Trump will give more leeway to Russia. The plan would 'freeze' Ukraine. Will Russia's occupation be recognized? According to Zelensky, there will be no deal without consent, but Trump's focus is on a 'rapid' end—ending WW3 in 2026? Or a new cold war? The plan seems Russia-friendly by incorporating Russian concerns. Will Ukraine be forced to agree?
