Ukraine: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is soon going to meet Donald Trump in Florida, America. This meeting has been scheduled at a time when the ongoing war with Russia is nearing the end of its fourth year and Ukraine is looking for a way to improve the situation. Zelensky says that the purpose of this conversation is to strengthen security-related confidence and move towards ending the war.
Zelensky said that his team has prepared a 20-point peace proposal. In his words, the plan is “almost 90 percent ready.” But it is not yet decided whether any final decision will be taken in the Florida meeting or not.
He also clearly said that the issue of border and occupied areas will definitely come up in the talks. Russia wants Ukraine to withdraw from those parts of Donbass where it still has a presence, while Ukraine is not ready to accept this.
Zelensky also wants to see European countries included in this conversation. He feels that the presence of Europe along with America will strengthen the decisions. However, he admitted that it may be difficult for everyone to sit together so soon.
Zelensky has already met Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and US envoy Steve Witkoff. He called these meetings “good talks.” He says that many documents have been prepared, some are almost ready, and work on some is going on. These include points related to security, economy, post-war reconstruction, and further strategy.
Zelensky wrote on social media that “considerable progress has been made” in talks with the US team and the coming weeks could be crucial. He acknowledged that not everything has been easy, but now he sees hope that something concrete can move forward.
Zelensky wants that after this tour it should at least be decided who stands with him to secure the future of Ukraine. In his view, security guarantees and economic assistance are the two bases without which it will be difficult to rebuild the country after the war.
