Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has given the state a festive season gift. He announced a massive project worth ₹4,150 crore to upgrade and repair 19,491 kilometers of rural link roads. This project covers 7,373 link roads across Punjab, with a promise of five years’ maintenance by contractors. Mann said roads are the backbone of Punjab’s economy and rural life. The project aims to provide smooth travel, better market access, and overall development in villages.

Ensuring quality and transparency

To ensure quality, the government carried out an Artificial Intelligence survey before tenders. This process saved nearly ₹383 crore. The contracts have been awarded through e-tendering for full transparency. For the first time, a “Road Infrastructure Development Meeting” was held with contractors and officials. Mann said strict instructions have been given to maintain standards. Signboards will be installed every two kilometers showing project details for public scrutiny.

Special focus on safety

Mann announced a special road safety project worth ₹91 crore. White stripes will be painted on road edges to help drivers during fog and at night. Zebra crossings will be marked outside schools and public gathering areas for pedestrian safety. For the first time, the government is introducing mandatory road safety boards across rural areas. These steps, Mann said, will protect lives and make rural travel safer.

Support for flood-hit farmers

The CM also addressed the devastation caused by recent floods. Over 2,300 villages were submerged, five lakh acres of crops destroyed, and 20 lakh people affected. He said farmers will receive ₹20,000 per acre as compensation—the highest in India. Nearly 60 lives were lost and lakhs displaced. Schools, colleges, and hospitals suffered massive damage. Mann assured that every penny of loss will be covered, calling it the government’s top priority.

Sharp attack on opponents

Mann did not spare rival leaders during his speech. He criticized Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal for issuing false promises. He said people might soon reject him on the streets. Mann accused previous governments of ignoring basic infrastructure and looting Punjab’s wealth. He stressed that old political families only thought of themselves and never cared for Punjabi language, culture, or common people’s struggles.

 Zero tolerance on drugs

The CM strongly condemned those who pushed Punjab’s youth into drugs. He accused powerful leaders of protecting and even selling drugs using official vehicles. Mann said his government has already jailed several such figures, calling them responsible for destroying generations. “No mercy for those who ruined our youth,” he declared. He promised strict punishment to anyone found guilty, no matter how influential they may be.

 People’s trust in AAP

Mann ended by saying Punjabis rejected traditional parties in 2022 because of their anti-people policies. He said people trusted a common man to lead the state, and his government is delivering. From free power surplus to better infrastructure, Mann called it a new chapter in Punjab’s history. He promised to continue working for farmers, workers, and youth, not for the privileged few. “This government belongs to the people,” he said.
