Amit Shah Cuts Nitish’s Seat Target from 225 to 160 Plus (X@AmitShah)
Bihar Elections 2025: The strategies between BJP and JDU regarding Bihar assembly elections are constantly changing. The target of winning 225 seats was set by the NDA earlier. JDU entered the electoral fray with this slogan - "225 and then Nitish". But now Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reduced this target to 160 plus. He has directed party workers to prepare for elections with a new goal.
According to sources, Amit Shah has taken this decision in view of the land report, survey and intelligence input. The party believes that the target of 225 seats is not practical in the current political situation. Therefore, now the focus is being made for winning more than 160 seats, which will be sufficient for the NDA to form the government.
This time the BJP is preparing to contest more seats in Bihar. Negotiations are going on about seat sharing and after Navratri, it is likely to be formally announced. In the 2020 election, BJP won 74 seats and JDU won 43 seats. At that time there was also resentment within the party over JDU's weak performance. This is the reason that this time the BJP wants to strengthen its role and is claiming more seats.
The first election campaign was given the slogan of "225 and then Nitish". This sent a message that the NDA would return to power with an overwhelming majority. But now it has become clear by reducing the target to 160 plus that the BJP wants to adopt a more realistic strategy. This change will also give a clear direction to the workers.
After Navratri, seat sharing will be announced in NDA. Then it will be clear which party will contest this time in how many seats. Currently, both parties are interacting to get more seats in their strong areas. Political analysts believe that reducing the target also means that the BJP does not want to be completely dependent on the JDU.
Although the new target is 160 plus, it is clear that this time in Bihar politics, the competition will be very tough. This election will not be easy for the NDA and the two parties will have to form a strong strategy. It will be clear only after the seat sharing that with which strength the NDA enters the electoral fray.
