Northern Railway Launches Special Trains for Diwali and Chhath Festival: In view of the festive season, Northern Railway has begun extensive preparations for passenger convenience. In addition to New Delhi and Anand Vihar, special trains will now operate from Shakur Basti station for the first time. A temporary holding area is being constructed at Shakur Basti station for this purpose.
Mobile UTS (Mobile Ticket Counters) have been provided for passenger convenience. A permanent holding area with a capacity of 7,000 passengers has been established at New Delhi station, with pre-ticketing, post-ticketing, and ticketing zones.
Twenty-one Unreserved Ticketing Systems (UTS), 20 additional ticket counters, and an inquiry counter have been installed at Ajmeri Gate. Seven counters and 25 automatic ticket vending machines have been installed on the Paharganj side. Two temporary holding areas are almost ready at Anand Vihar station, one spanning 5,000 square feet and the other 8,500 square feet.
The Railways has launched the M-UTS (Mobile Unreserved Ticketing System), which allows passengers to book tickets instantly. Forty special staff and 22 assistants will be deployed at New Delhi and Anand Vihar stations. These staff will assist passengers and provide assistance in purchasing tickets through ticketing machines or mobile apps.
To ensure security during the festivals, 2,100 RPF personnel will be deployed. QR codes will be installed at various locations in the New Delhi station's holding area for ticketing through a mobile app.
For the first time, three special trains will run from Shakur Basti to Okha, Bhavnagar, and Mumbai Central. A total of 4,600 special trains will operate from the Delhi Division.
