Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara Infiltration Thwarted: 2 Militants Eliminated

2 Terrorists Killed In Kupwara: The Indian Army on Tuesday foiled an infiltration attempt near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machil sector of the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The army killed two terrorists in action; the search of the area and preliminary investigation are still going on.

The whole matter

According to Sharif officials, the troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC and immediately started firing. There was an encounter between the two sides for some time, in which the Indian Army neutralized the two terrorists. During the search launched after the violent encounter, security forces also recovered warlike items.

Giving information about this action on social media, Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said that the operation has been named "Operation Gugaldhar." Chinar said that 2 AK‑47 rifles, 2 pistols, and 4 hand grenades have been recovered from there, and the search of the area is still going on.

Background and Security Alert

Due to recent incidents and border activities, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had instructed the security forces to remain on high alert. Shah specifically said that terrorists may try to infiltrate by crossing the LoC and International Border by taking advantage of adverse weather and snowfall; hence, vigilance is necessary.

Current situation

The Army and local security agencies are continuing search and combing operations in the area so that any remaining threat can be contained in time and the safety of civilians is ensured.
