Bihar CM Nitish Kumar resigns as MLC after election to Rajya Sabha (X)
New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday resigned as Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), days after his election as a Member of the Rajya Sabha (MP). The senior leader was elected to the Upper House on March 16.
The resignation was submitted to Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh at the Chief Minister's official residence.
The Janata Dal United MLC Sanjay Gandhi arrived at the Bihar Legislative Council on Monday to formally submit Nitish Kumar's resignation letter to the secretariat.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin also resigned on Monday from his position as member of both Parliament and legislative council of Bihar, following his election as the Rajya Sabha member on March 16.
Nitin Nabin had submitted his resignation to state president Sanjay Saraogi on Sunday. Sanjay will submit his resignation on Monday.
Nitin Nabin on Monday announced his resignation on social media, saying, "After the sudden demise of my father in January 2006, the party gave me the opportunity to contest the by-election from Patna West, and on April 27, 2006, I was elected for the first time from the Patna West constituency, marking the beginning of my social and political life."
