National News: A political storm has hit the Congress in Bihar as leaders openly challenge the process of ticket distribution for the upcoming elections. They accuse the leadership of favoring rich aspirants over dedicated grassroots workers. At a press conference in Patna, Anand Madhav, head of the party’s State Research Cell, criticized the decisions that sidelined long-serving members. This controversy threatens to weaken the Congress campaign at a crucial juncture.
Speaking to reporters, Anand Madhav said that those who worked tirelessly for years were denied recognition. He alleged that people with financial clout managed to secure tickets instead. Other leaders like Gajanand Shahi, Chhatrapati Tiwari, and Bunty Chaudhary echoed these concerns. They argued that workers who stood by the party during its toughest days have been abandoned, creating resentment at the grassroots level.
The dissenting voices accused the state Congress of falling into the hands of “agents” of powerful leaders. They said true believers in the party’s ideology are being pushed aside. According to Anand Madhav, this betrayal goes against Rahul Gandhi’s vision of empowering grassroots workers. The disgruntled leaders warned that the crisis was bigger than tickets—it was about values, credibility, and the very identity of the Congress.
Attempts to contact Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram failed, leaving many frustrated. Sources said the party high command has asked him to engage with angry leaders. However, no official statement has been made. Observers say that the leadership’s silence only deepens the crisis, suggesting that communication gaps could worsen the rebellion. The lack of dialogue threatens unity within the state unit.
On Thursday, Congress released its first list of 48 candidates for the elections. Instead of unity, the list provoked fresh anger. Many felt that undeserving names were favored while loyal workers were ignored. Leaders alleged favoritism and personal bias shaped the selection process. This backlash shows how internal disputes have overshadowed the launch of the party’s campaign, putting the organization under immense pressure.
The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14. With little time left, Congress must control the damage quickly. As part of the Grand Alliance, it plays a key role in challenging the ruling NDA. If the rebellion spreads, allies may lose confidence in Congress’s ability to deliver, complicating opposition strategies.
The ticket distribution controversy has become a litmus test for Congress’s credibility in Bihar. For grassroots workers, it symbolizes neglect of their years of service. Political analysts warn that unresolved anger could harm the party’s prospects in several constituencies. Unless the leadership reconciles with its base, Congress risks alienating its loyal support and entering the elections with a divided house.
