Patna: Former RJD leader Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav is embroiled in controversy over his objectionable statement regarding women. The JDU has slammed Pappu Yadav for his statement. Controversial JDU MLA Anant Singh was among those who slammed the Independent MP from Purnia, Bihar over his remarks.

What did Anant Singh say?

"Pappu Yadav should first ask his wife, she is also in politics. Pappu Yadav is talking about other women, first he should ask his wife. This is not done. They make such statements just to remain in the news. JDU has demanded action against Pappa Yadav," JDU MLA Anant Singh said.

What did Neeraj Kumar say?

JDU leader Neeraj Kumar has demanded appropriate action against Pappu Yadav, adding that the words used by Pappu Yadav cannot be used by anyone even in his own home. "We firmly believe that appropriate legal action must be taken against him. 70-71 criminal cases are registered against Pappu Yadav. Yet, now he is here preaching on the conduct of women. That's why I wonder, is he just pretending in response to the Women's Commission notice, or is he really sick?" he said.

What action did the Women's Commission take?

National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Vijaya Rahatkar has described the MP's statement as a symbol of 'narrow and discriminatory mentality'. He said that this statement is against the basic spirit of the Constitution, which gives equal rights to women. Bihar State Women Commission has also taken suo motu cognizance of this matter. The Women's Commission has asked Pappu Yadav to publicly tender an unconditional apology for this derogatory comment.

What was Pappu Yadav's controversial statement?

During a program, Pappu Yadav had said, "Without a leader's room, 90 percent women cannot do politics. CCTV footage of leaders comes every day. A culture of harassing women has developed. Daughters are being exploited everywhere from school, college to office."

How is Pappu Yadav's health?

Amidst the controversies, news came that Pappu Yadav's health deteriorated during the election campaign for the Congress candidate in the Malda district of West Bengal. Due to the scorching heat, he complained of dehydration, after which he had to be admitted to the hospital. However, he has been discharged from the hospital after first aid. He had left for Purnia.
