Bihar: This time the contest for the Buxar assembly seat is quite interesting. Former IPS Anand Mishra is contesting from BJP and is presenting a strong claim. In front of him are Tathaghat Harshvardhan of the Jan Suraj Party and Sanjay Kumar Tiwari, alias Munna Tiwari, of Congress. All three candidates have a strong hold at their respective levels; hence, this contest is considered to be very close. Today the results will make it clear who will take command of Buxar.
Buxar is an important seat out of 243 assembly seats of Bihar, which falls in the Buxar Lok Sabha constituency. This seat is important both historically and politically. Congress had won here in the first assembly elections of 1951. Congress also won the last election in 2020, and Sanjay Kumar Tiwari became MLA for the second consecutive time.
Last time the contest for the Buxar seat was between Munna Tiwari of Congress and Parashuram Choubey of BJP. The voting percentage was recorded at 56.74. A total of 89,749 male voters had cast their votes, while female participation was 72,155. The victory margin was very small, only 3,892 votes, which made it clear that this seat is going to be a tough fight every time.
Buxar is considered very rich not only politically but also historically. It is believed that Guru Vishwamitra's ashram was here, where Ram and Lakshman received their initial education and training. Tadka's murder is also said to have taken place in this area. The famous 'Battle of Buxar' of 1764 was also fought on this land, which had a big impact on the history of India.
After the results, it will be decided whether Buxar will once again give a chance to Congress, BJP will get a new start, or Jan Suraj will make a big difference in this triangular fight. Whichever party wins this seat, it proves to be a morale boosting result for it.
