Himachal Bus Accident: Bus Falls 100 Feet Off Road In Chamba, 8 Killed

It is being said that the bus went out of control and fell about 100 feet down the road, due to which 8 people died.

Chamba: A major road accident took place in Chamba district of Himachal on Saturday morning. The bus of Sharma Travellers went out of control and fell down at Chaluj turn near Devikothi on the Bairagarh-Chamba road of Churah sub-division. In this accident, 8 people died and 7 were seriously injured.

What happened at 6:30 in the morning?

According to the information, the bus had left from Bairagarh for Chamba at around 6:30 in the morning. The bus had just travelled 3 kilometres when the driver lost control at Chaluj turn. The bus fell straight down the road onto another road. At that time there were 15 to 16 people in the bus. After the accident, there was an outcry on the spot.

How did the villagers save themselves?

As soon as the news of the accident was received, the nearby villagers immediately reached the spot. People were the first to break the glass of the bus, take out the injured and take them to Teesa Civil Hospital. Later the police and administration team also arrived. Right now the work of straightening the bus is going on. There is fear that some people may be buried under the debris.

How many died, how many injured?

So far 8 people have been confirmed dead. The driver and conductor of the bus are also among those who died. About 7 injuries are serious and are undergoing treatment. Relief and rescue work is still going on. Chamba SP Vijay Kumar Saklani said that the team was sent as soon as the information was received. The injured have been taken to the hospital. Police have registered the case.

What is the reason for the accident?

The exact reason is not known yet. Initial investigation reveals that the bus was out of control. Police are investigating the matter. Turns on hilly roads are very dangerous. The road can also become slippery due to morning time and rain. The administration has intensified relief work at the incident site.
