Chennai Central-New Jalpaiguri SF Express train derails in Odisha as three coaches skid off track (X/ANI)
Bhubaneswar, Odisha: The Chennai Central-New Jalpaiguru Express derailed near Jakhapura railway station in Odisha's Jajpur on Thursday, that caused three coaches to slip off the tracks. Reportedly, the train was heading to Kolkata from Bhubaneswar.
If media reports are to be believed, soon after the incidents a rescue team was immediately sent to the site, stated the railway officials. As per the rescue team all passengers were unharmed.
Talking about the Chennai Central-New Jalpaiguri SF Express train derailment near Jakhapura Station, Deepak Rout, CPRO, East Coast Railway, said, " There has been a minor derailment at Jakhapura. The train was moving from Chennai to New Jalpaiguri. There are no injuries or loss of lives. Affected passengers are being accommodated in other coaches.''
He further informed, ''It is a minor derailment. Helpline number is 8114382367. A technical team and senior officials are on site. All help is being provided to passengers, and the situation is being monitored. The railway line will be restored soon."

As per the reports, the railway stated that the incident took place at around 8:51 am on Thursday. Soon after the incident the rescue team started the restoration task immediately. As per the official statement released by the department, it stated, "Upon receiving the information, Accident Relief Trains (ART) from Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road, along with Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) from Khurda Road, were promptly dispatched at 8:53 am."
An eye witness took to the social media handle X and shared his experience. He posted on X, ''Horrible experience today. The New Jalpaiguri - Chennai Central SF Express has derailed on the way to Howrah near Hijli. The shock and panic among passengers are indescribable.'' He also tagged Ministry of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in his post.
