After CJP Protest, Advocate Reaches Police Station and Files Complaint Against Abhijeet Dipke (Facebook)
New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demonstrated at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on Friday, October 2, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. A large number of people participated in the demonstration. CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke raised questions about the Election Commission and alleged irregularities in the voter list. However, many of his allegations have not been independently confirmed.
CJP demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar through protests. The organisation raised objection to the alleged changes made in the voter lists under Special Intensive Revision or SIR. The CJP also put forward several demands, including stopping the SIR process and restoring the voter list of January 2025.
According to reports, Mumbai Police had not given permission for the demonstration in Shivaji Park. Despite this, CJP workers and supporters gathered there. Information has come to light that the police have cited concerns related to traffic and noise. Police force was also deployed for security in the area during the demonstration.
Lawyer and local resident Siddhi Devlekar informed about filing a complaint against CJP leaders at Shivaji Park Police Station. According to ANI report, the complaint has levelled allegations against Abhijit Deepke, Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and Ratna Singh, among others, for protesting and gathering a large crowd despite not getting permission.
After the protest, Abhijeet Deepke said that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, then another protest will be held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on October 10. He called it 'Jantar-Mantar 2.0' and called upon people from across the country to reach Delhi. After Mumbai, CJP has also talked about agitation in other cities including Goa, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Ranchi.
Apart from CJP supporters, some well-known personalities also participated in the demonstration. According to reports, actors Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and composer-singer Vishal Dadlani and some others attended the event. The protesters put forward their demands through posters and slogans.
