CM Mann Announces Guru Tegh Bahadur University At Anandpur Sahib On 350th Martyrdom Day (TIN)

Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the establishment of a world-class university in Sri Anandpur Sahib named after the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, bringing to life the vision of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

What CM Mann said on 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji?

Speaking at the ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’ gathering at Gurdwara Budda Dal Chavni on the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Chief Minister said this university in the sacred city will strengthen Guru Sahib’s great vision. He said the university will be extremely helpful for deep research into the ninth Guru’s unique martyrdom, great life and philosophy. Mann added that this prestigious institution will inspire future generations while spreading the life and philosophy of the great Guru Sahib.

What CM Mann said on the event?

The Chief Minister said Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was a living symbol of socialism and secularism, as he made a great sacrifice to protect human rights in the country. Mann appealed to people to adopt the spirit of self-sacrifice of ‘Hind Di Chadar’ (Shield of India) Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who gave his life to protect human rights, secular values and religious freedom. He said the sacred hymns of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji recorded in Sri Guru Granth Sahib give the message of unity, universal brotherhood, religiousness, bravery and compassion, which everyone should follow.

What CM Mann said about Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrifices?

The Chief Minister said Guru Sahib’s unique martyrdom for the protection of religion is unmatched in human history. He said Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrificed himself to uphold the values of truth and religious freedom, and this should always be remembered. Mann said the world-class university being established by the state government will play an important role in spreading Guru Sahib’s life and philosophy to every corner of the world.

The Chief Minister said the life and philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is a beacon of light for all humanity. He said this proposed university will play an important role in preserving this glorious heritage on one hand and strengthening unity among people on the other. He said the sacrifice given by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is unmatched and such an example is not found in any other history of the world. Mann said rulers used to commit severe atrocities before Guru Sahib, but Guru Sahib never bowed to such tactics and sacrificed his life for religious freedom, which has no parallel in the world.

What CM Mann said about the Sant Samaj?

The Chief Minister thanked the Sant Samaj (religious community) for supporting the state government in completing this noble work and said the state government has fulfilled its duty with full dedication and devotion. He said the state government organized a special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly at this sacred place, which was extremely unique because the entire assembly was brought to the feet of Guru Sahib. Mann said the assembly unanimously decided to grant the status of sacred city to Amritsar, Talwandi Sabo and Sri Anandpur Sahib, the cities with all Takhts.

The Chief Minister said Sikhs have five Takht Sahibs, of which three - Sri Akal Takht Sahib (Amritsar), Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda) and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib (Sri Anandpur Sahib) - are in Punjab. Mann said keeping in mind the old demand of the people and to make this session of the Punjab Assembly memorable, the state government has declared these cities as sacred cities of Punjab. He said to fulfill the old demand of the Sangat (congregation), the sale and use of meat, alcohol, tobacco and other intoxicating substances will be banned in these cities.

What are CM Mann's initiatives for all-round development of Punjab?  

The Chief Minister said no stone will be left unturned for the all-round development of these cities and there is no shortage of funds and resources for this noble work. He also announced free e-rickshaws, mini buses and other free public transport systems for the Sangat coming to bow their heads in these cities. Mann said every possible effort will be made to further accelerate the development of these cities because there is no shortage of funds for this work.

The Chief Minister said that paying humble tribute to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the state government has organized sequential programs throughout the state dedicated to Guru Sahib’s 350th martyrdom anniversary. He said the unparalleled martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is supreme and unmatched because the purpose of this martyrdom was to protect the religion of others. Mann said Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib made a great sacrifice for the protection of religious freedom to set an example for the world.

The Chief Minister called upon people to follow the path of humanity and truth shown by Guru Sahib. He said the message of the ninth Sikh Guru Sahib is a true symbol of secularism, unity and universal brotherhood. He said Guru Sahib’s life and philosophy will always remain a beacon of light for humanity. Mann said these programs will continue in the future and in the coming years, programs will be organized throughout the state dedicated to the martyrdom anniversary.

The Chief Minister said the sole purpose of these gatherings is to pass on the great heritage of the great Guru Sahib to our future generations. Mann also announced plans to renovate and upgrade the existing Charan Ganga Stadium in the sacred city so that better facilities can be provided to the Sangat coming to the sacred city on the occasion of Hola Mohalla every year. He said the state government is committed to the welfare of every section of society and concrete steps are already being taken in this regard.

In his address, the AAP National Convenor said he has been here for the past three days with his wife to pay obeisance to this sacred land. Arvind Kejriwal said he feels very fortunate to have had the opportunity to bow his head at Gurdwara Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Bhora Sahib. He said it was a unique experience for him to participate in the series of gatherings organized on this sacred day and in memory of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Kejriwal said extensive arrangements have been made by the state government for the convenience of the Sangat coming to bow their heads in this sacred city.

The AAP National Convenor said if there has been any shortcoming in this service, the Punjab government seeks forgiveness from the people of the state and the great Guru Sahib. Kejriwal said if people adopt the message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in their lives, there will be no place for any kind of communal tension in the world. He said Guru Sahib’s message of love, compassion and humanity can pave the way for world peace.

Kejriwal said all arrangements for these gatherings were possible because the state government is following the path shown by the great Gurus. He said walking on the path of honesty, every penny has been spent by the state government for the welfare of the people with complete wisdom and vigilance. Kejriwal said quality education and health services are being provided to the people by the state government.

Kejriwal said it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that every person associated with the state government, from ministers to officials, has made their contribution in serving Guru Sahib. He said the smooth completion of the gatherings is the result of their collective efforts.
