New Delhi: The deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal has now turned into cyclonic storm 'Arnab'. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this system transformed into a cyclonic storm on the morning of 26 October 2026. Due to its impact, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many states of South and Eastern India. Caution is being taken regarding the weather especially in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. At the same time, the effect of cold has started increasing in the morning and evening in North India. Due to change in weather in hilly areas, a drop in temperature can be felt in the plains as well.

In which states will the impact of Cyclone Arnab be visible?

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a risk of heavy to very heavy rain in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha as Cyclone Arnab progresses. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and coastal Karnataka also.

Apart from this, the effect of rain may also be seen in some parts of Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar in the coming days. However, the intensity of rain and category of alerts may differ in different states. People should keep an eye on the latest forecast of the weather department of their area.

Why increased concern in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha?

Cyclone Arnab is moving from the Bay of Bengal towards the coast of Andhra Pradesh. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, this system may hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam around October 28. During this period, there is a possibility of increase in wind speed and heavy rain in many areas.

In view of the bad weather in the sea, fishermen have been advised to exercise caution. People living in coastal areas need to follow the instructions of the administration and avoid going near the sea.

How will the cold be in North India including Delhi-UP?

While the risk of rain is increasing in South India, the weather has started getting cold in the morning and evening in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Despite sunshine during the day, a difference in temperature can be felt between morning and night.

However, it is important to check the local weather forecast to confirm any major changes in cold in these states. The main impact of the cyclone is likely to be in eastern and southern India.

What is the update regarding snowfall in the mountains?

Changes in the weather are being monitored in the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Cold may increase due to low temperature in hilly areas. Travellers are advised to check the local weather before visiting the mountains.

At present, the next few days are important in terms of the direction and intensity of Cyclone Arnab. People living in the affected areas should follow the official warnings of the IMD and local administration.
