Community in shock: 13-year-old girl kidnapped, gang-raped in Rajasthan

Rajasthan: A 21-year-old man was arrested due to allegations of abducting and gang raping a 13-year-old girl, which surprised the public and brought political criticism over the increasing numbers of sexual violence against minors.

Rajasthan: A shocking incidence of kidnapping and gang rape has shaken Rajasthan with a 13-year-old girl wherein the police, from Balotra, had arrested a 21-year old man. What is pathetic regarding this case is that the police recovered the unconscious girl from the roadside after her father had lodged missing complaint. Notably, three accused persons within this heinous crime are close to the father of the girl.

This horrific events had taken place on the Wednesday morning as the girl was going to the school. It is located at merely a kilometer distance from the girl's place. DSP Sangram Singh confirmed that three of the accused persons who were in car near the school abducting and taking her at a distance place which is approximately five or six kilometers. There, they raped her in turns for over an hour. Later, the victim told police that one of the men was a look-out during the attack.

Father's Shattering Discovery

When summoned by the school on the case of his daughter being absent, he went out and found her. The father drove home and out from the police station where a missing report is filed, came back again only to discover her lying next to the roadside, in distress. She is taken straight for medical care by a local hospital, examined, and given a statement to the police.

Legal action and public outcry

The police have filed a case against the three accused persons under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Investigations revealed that two of the accused used to work with the girl's father, which created issues of trust and safety in their society. As the police are still searching for the other accused, public outrage is growing at the rising rates of sexual offenses against children.

Political Reactions and Demands for Justice

This incident has faced intense political backlash. The Rajasthan chief of the Congress party, Govind Singh Dotasra, criticized the state BJP government with severe attacks because the government fails to ensure safety measures for women and children. While stating some alarming facts related to child sex abuse cases in Rajasthan, he urged swift actions and proper accountability from the officials. Reactions came as BJP spokesman Laxmikant Bhardwaj justified the efforts of the government to maintain law and order while promising that justice would be done regarding this case.
