National News: India's Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh visited the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam on 16 and 17 May 2025. The journey was carried out for the purpose of strategic security of the country's eastern maritime borders and high -level review of the Navy's operational capabilities.
During this time the Defense Secretary met Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar. The meeting discussed in detail the deployment of the Navy, maritime security strategies, operational readiness and regional activities. Vice Admiral informed the Defense Secretary about major campaigns, monitoring mechanisms, training processes and international naval exercises to the Defense Secretary.
During the tour, the Defense Secretary was given detailed information about the issued and proposed infrastructure development projects on the east coast. These include new jetty, dock expansion, advanced radar and communication systems, and strengthening of logistic systems, which will give new heights to the Navy's operational power and response capacity.

The Defense Secretary visited various areas of the Visakhapatnam naval base and interacted directly with the officers and naval personnel working there. He appreciated the morale, training and deployment level of the soldiers and assured to ensure that every soldier engaged in service should be provided excellent resources and facilities.
India's role in the Indo-Pacific sector is steadily increasing and the strategic significance of the east coast has become deeper. The Eastern Navy Command is strengthening the cooperation of India's maritime sovereignty in the region as well as cooperation with partner countries.
Rajesh Kumar Singh insisted that the central government is fully committed and determined about the all -round modernization of the Indian Navy. He said that in the coming years, not only technological innovations, but also indigenous defense production will be given priority, which will lead to further speed to the goal of 'self -reliant India'.
This journey of the Defense Secretary was not only a strategic review of eastern marine borders, but also indicates that India is alert and active about its maritime security structure.
