National News: Delhi is likely to experience light to moderate showers with thunder this Dussehra evening, which may disrupt the city’s major celebrations as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to attend the Ravan Dahan at Utsav Ground. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain with wind speeds of 30–40 kmph across several areas, including South East, East, Shahdara, Central, North East, South, New Delhi, South West, West, and North West Delhi, within the next 2–3 hours.
The IMD has warned of light rain and thunderstorms for Delhi and suggested people remain careful while travelling. The expected impact includes waterlogged roads, traffic issues due to low visibility, possible crop damage, and risks from falling trees or weak structures. People are advised to stay away from water bodies, avoid stepping outside unless needed, and handle electrical items with care during the showers.
Due to persistent rainfall in Delhi-NCR, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend the Dussehra celebrations organised by the Ram Leela Committee Indraprastha at Utsav Ground in East Delhi around 6 pm.
