National News: Addressing a press conference, Bharadwaj claimed that Rekha Gupta’s husband is seen sitting alongside senior officials in government meetings. He argued this violates democratic norms and constitutional boundaries, raising serious concerns about governance in the national capital.

Politics Like Local Panchayats

Bharadwaj mocked the BJP saying this looks like local panchayat-style politics. He compared it to situations where a woman wins a reserved seat, but her husband effectively takes charge. He stressed that such practices degrade the dignity of Delhi’s top office.

Viral Videos on Social Media

The AAP leader insisted this is not an isolated incident. He pointed out multiple videos on social media—shared even by the Chief Minister herself—where her husband is issuing directions and conducting on-ground inspections with government officials.

BJP’s Defense and Comparison

The BJP, defending itself, claimed these were constituency-level meetings. Party strategist Amit Malviya compared it to Sheila Dikshit’s era, where her sister assisted her. But Bharadwaj countered that Delhiites voted for Rekha Gupta, not her husband, to lead the government.

Orders to Government Officers

AAP leaders screened a video where the CM’s husband directed officers about the design of a community center and its parking facilities. Bharadwaj asked what legal authority allows him to instruct government officers—calling it unconstitutional and unlawful.

Strategy to Avoid Corruption Blame?

Bharadwaj alleged this is a calculated BJP strategy to shield the Chief Minister. If any corruption scandal emerges, her husband would be the face, leaving the CM insulated. He reminded that such tactics have existed in Indian politics before.

Direct Questions to Prime Minister

Concluding the press meet, Bharadwaj asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify whether this aligns with BJP’s promises of clean politics. He questioned if Delhi has been handed an incapable Chief Minister whose husband is now unofficially in charge.
