New Delhi: Thousands of women celebrated the festive spirit of Karwa Chauth with beautifully decorated hands as North-East Zone chairman and councillor Pankaj Luthra organised free mehndi camps at eight locations. The initiative brought traditional festive cheer closer to women, allowing them to enjoy the celebrations without travelling far or spending money on mehndi application.
The camps were organised in Jwala Nagar, Farsh Bazar, Vivek Vihar, Pratap Khand, Jhilmil Colony, Triveni Apartments, Rajiv Camp and the Industrial Area. Women participated enthusiastically, choosing designs of their choice and adding a traditional touch to their Karwa Chauth preparations.
For many women, the camps served as a convenient festive arrangement, offering free mehndi services within their neighbourhoods. The initiative helped create a lively atmosphere at all eight locations as families prepared for the occasion.
Karwa Chauth holds an important place in Indian traditions, particularly among married women who observe a fast and pray for their husbands' long lives and the happiness of their married lives. Mehndi application is an integral part of the festive preparations, alongside traditional attire and other elements of solah shringar.
Keeping these customs in mind, the free camps were arranged to ensure that women could access mehndi services close to home. The initiative also reduced the need to travel to distant markets during the busy festive period.
Organising the camps across multiple neighbourhoods helped extend the benefit to a larger number of women. The gatherings also encouraged social interaction and strengthened community participation, creating a celebratory atmosphere across the area.
Through this initiative, Pankaj Luthra provided thousands of women with an opportunity to participate in the traditional festivities without paying for mehndi application. The camps across eight locations added colour to Karwa Chauth celebrations while highlighting the value of community-oriented initiatives during festivals.
