Delhi Residents Refuse to Attend PM Modi’s Rally: Saurabh Bhardwaj (Image Source: Press Release)

Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj on Sunday claimed that people in the national capital are not ready to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally. Addressing a press conference, he alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which recently formed its government in Delhi after 27 years, had planned a massive rally with a target of gathering one lakh people. However, due to public anger against the BJP’s actions in the last six months, Bhardwaj said, the party is now forcing government employees and municipal staff to fill the crowd.

Employees Compelled Even on Festivals and Holidays

Bhardwaj said, “Yesterday was Janmashtami. In Hindu religion, people fast on Janmashtami, visit temples at midnight for worship and offerings, and return home very late. Usually, people sleep by around 2:00 AM. The next day, many people perform Navami Puja in large numbers.”

He called it shameful that employees who worked during the day and spent the night in religious rituals were forced to attend BJP’s rally the next morning despite it being a holiday. Orders were issued from the Municipal Corporation that employees must report at designated spots by 7:00 AM, and attendance would be marked. Bhardwaj presented before journalists an official order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the Central Zone Education Department, which clearly stated that municipal school teachers must gather at 7:00 AM at a specified place, and at 7:30 AM buses would leave for PM Modi’s rally. The order also threatened that attendance was mandatory as per the Deputy Commissioner’s instruction. Bhardwaj said, “This shows BJP is running a dictatorship in Delhi.

Delhi Public Angry With BJP’s Governance

Bhardwaj questioned why the people of Delhi are unwilling to attend PM Modi’s rally and answered, “It is because the people of Delhi are not with BJP. BJP won elections in Delhi through fraud—by cutting votes, creating fake votes, distributing money, and misusing power. That is how they grabbed power. He said that after grabbing power deceitfully, BJP increased private school fees, angering the middle class. Bulldozers were run over slums and people’s workplaces, making lakhs homeless and snatching their livelihoods, angering the poor. In the recent rains, due to BJP’s negligence, 30 people died in different parts of Delhi. Bhardwaj remarked, “The situation today is such that people are ready to gather for the protection of stray dogs, but they are not ready to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally.”

Videos Show Forced Attendance and Threats

During the press conference, Bhardwaj also showed several videos from different areas, clearly showing sanitation workers being forcibly taken to PM Modi’s rally without prior information. In one video, a female sanitation worker said, “Even on this holiday we were called, we wanted to perform Ashtami Puja, but we were forcibly brought here and made to sit in a bus. We don’t even know where we are being taken. Bhardwaj said BJP’s condition has become so miserable that poor women sanitation workers are now being dragged without consent to increase crowd numbers in the rally. Not only this, licensing department officials also threatened street vendors in Delhi that they must attend PM Modi’s rally or else they would not be allowed to set up their stalls.
