'Dulhan Ko Bachaya...,' SDM Risked his Life to Save Bride Trapped in the Flood

A bride was saved by a brave SDM. The SDM reached the village and congratulated the girl and took her along with her family members in a boat to Kalanaur where her marriage was occuring. 

Amid the ongoing flood operations in various parts of the nation, an interesting incident happened came to light during the relief operations in Gurdaspur. Unfortunately, a bride got stuck on her wedding day in the flood. But things didn't turned worse as woman SDM came immediately to rescue her at the venue. 

Due to the courageous efforts of SDM Kalanaur Jyotsna Singh, the girl reached the wedding venue and got married. Karmi, a young girl from village Shale Chak near Kalanaur, was married to a young man from Batala on 28 August. Due to the flood on the night of 27 August, the village Shale Chak was surrounded by water.

Karmi's wedding was the next morning but the flood was not helping the family. The girl's wedding was to take place in Kalanaur. On the other hand, the baraat (marriage party) including the groom had already left for Kalanaur from Batala. With no way out, the girl's father Bua Masih explained his problem to the village head.

The Sarpanch immediately called SDM Kalanaur and asked for help. When SDM Jyotsna Singh came to know that a girl was ready for her marriage after wearing bangles and completing all the auspicious rituals, but the flood water was blocking the way, she boarded a boat with the NDRF team and reached village Shale Chak.

The SDM reached the village and congratulated the girl and took her along with her family members in a boat to Kalanaur where her marriage was solemnized with great pomp and show. The girl's family has expressed gratitude to the district administration and Kalanaur SDM Jyotsna Singh for helping them in this difficult time.
