A sudden flash flood hit a remote camping area in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China, killing eight people and leaving four others missing, local authorities said, according to Global Times, citing Xinhua. The flood hit late Saturday night, around 10 pm, in the upper part of a river in Urad Rear Banner, Bayannur City, in western Inner Mongolia. Officials said that 13 people were initially reported missing after the flood.
By Sunday morning, rescue teams had saved one person, confirmed eight deaths, and continued searching for the remaining four missing individuals, Global Times reported.
Authorities are still working to locate the missing people, and more details are expected as the search continues.
