In Delhi's Harsh Vihar area, a man was lured to a house by a male friend he met on Tinder and held captive. The accused, along with his accomplices, recorded an explicit video of the victim and later blackmailed him for money.

A man in Delhi lost ₹1.25 lakh in a harrowing scam linked to a dating app encounter. According to reports, the victim was lured by a male friend he met on Tinder and invited to a house in Harsh Vihar, where he was held captive, blackmailed, and robbed.

The ordeal unfolds

The victim connected with a man named Ankit on Tinder, who invited him to meet near Gokulpuri Metro Station. From there, Ankit took him to a house in Pratap Nagar’s B-Block. Upon arrival, the victim encountered four others already present. Together, they forcibly recorded an explicit video of the victim and used it to blackmail him.

The assailants seized the victim’s phone, unlocked it, and transferred ₹1.25 lakh from his bank account to three different accounts. After robbing the victim and issuing threats, they released him.

Police action

North East Delhi DCP Ashish Mishra revealed that the incident was reported on Wednesday. Following the victim's complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested five individuals, including a 17-year-old minor. The adult suspects were identified as Arjun and Nitin from Loni, Ghaziabad, along with Akash and Faizan from Saboli.

Initial investigations disclosed that Akash is involved in multiple cases, including attempted murder and robbery, while Arjun and Nitin have prior robbery charges. The police recovered the victim’s phone and are interrogating the suspects to uncover the extent of their network.

The investigation continues

Authorities are delving deeper into the case to determine if the group has targeted others through similar scams. The incident highlights the dangers of online dating platforms and emphasizes the need for caution when meeting strangers.
